When Update is called, the Data Adapter will attempt to execute each query (UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE) on every row of the Data Set that has been updated, inserted, and deleted.

Also, as many of you have noticed, comments have not been working on this blog.

In my post about a Batch Update command for Linq To SQL, the code I presented uses a method To MSSql String() which has not yet been defined.

The method converts a Linq Expression to a T-SQL expression by evaluating the current node of the expression tree and evaluation the node’s children: This only implements selected Node Types to sketch the mechanism.

After learning far more than I wanted to about PHP and My SQL, I finally determined that I had a corrupted comments table in My SQL – I installed php My Admin, and then was able to repair the table, and presto, comments started working again!

I will be working on responding to comments (even old ones) here over the next while.

Note: Keep in mind that this Update is different than a SQL UPDATE statement.

To insert, update, and delete data using a Data Adapter, you create an Ole Db Command object with INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements and set the Insert Command, Update Command, and Delete Command properties of the data adapter to Ole Db Command. You can avoid building Command objects manually by using Command Builder. As you saw in the Data Table, Data Row, and Data Column sections at the beginning of this article, you can use the Delete method of a Data Row to delete a row.And I’m certain I’ll discuss things that I haven’t contemplated yet. First of all, I apologize for neglecting this blog for so long.I’ve been super busy doing stuff at Open Xml Developer.org, and after interacting there, haven’t had energy for blogging here.As an alternative, you can also use the Expression Visitor class to iterate the expression tree, as illustrated in other blogs.
